The ADE7757 is a single-phase energy metering IC developed by Analog Devices, designed for accurate measurement of active (real) power in electrical energy metering applications.

It integrates two high-resolution ADCs, a digital multiplier, digital filters, and an internal oscillator, simplifying the design of energy meters and significantly reducing external component requirements.

The IC directly converts measured energy into a frequency or pulse output (CF pin) that is proportional to the average real power consumed. This makes it ideal for electronic watt meters, smart plugs, and low-cost energy measurement systems.

With its compact SMD (SOIC-16 or SSOP-16) package and low power consumption, the ADE7757 offers an efficient and accurate metering solution for modern compact designs.

Operating Principle:

  • Signal Acquisition: ADCs sample voltage and current waveforms.
  • Digital Processing: Internal DSP multiplies and averages instantaneous power.
  • Frequency Conversion: Average power is converted into a pulse frequency signal.
  • Output Scaling: Each CF pulse corresponds to a specific amount of energy.

The CF pin can be directly connected to a microcontroller input or LED for visual calibration and metering indication.
