The ATmega1284P-AU is a high-performance 8-bit AVR microcontroller manufactured by Atmel (now Microchip Technology). It belongs to the ATmega picoPower (P) family, which is optimized for low-power consumption while providing large program memory and extensive I/O capability.

The microcontroller is based on Harvard architecture with a RISC instruction set, allowing most instructions to execute in a single clock cycle.
