MQ4 Methane Natural Gas Sensor
The MQ-4 Gas Sensor is a semiconductor gas sensor designed to detect methane (CH?) and natural gas in the air. It uses a tin dioxide (SnO?) sensing element whose resistance changes when exposed to methane gas, enabling detection of gas concentration changes. The sensor includes an integrated heater that raises the sensing material to its optimal operating temperature and provides an analog output that varies with gas concentration. The MQ-4 is commonly used in basic gas detection systems, safety monitors, and embedded electronics projects.
