DS3231 Real Time Clock RTC Module
The DS3231 RTC Module is a highly accurate, temperature-compensated real-time clock IC that provides precise timekeeping for a wide range of electronic projects. Unlike basic RTCs (such as DS1307), the DS3231 includes an integrated temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO), which drastically improves accuracy and stability over varying temperatures.
It communicates via the I2C interface and can maintain accurate timekeeping even during power loss using a CR2032 backup battery. Many DS3231 modules also include an AT24C32 or AT24C256 EEPROM for extra data storage.
The module tracks seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month, and year, with automatic leap-year correction. It supports both 12-hour and 24-hour time formats and also provides two programmable alarms and a square-wave output.
