74HC257 Quad 2 input multiplexer IC (74257) DIP 16 Package

The 74HC257 (also known as 74257) is a high-speed CMOS Quad 2-to-1 Data Selector/Multiplexer with 3-State Outputs. It is designed to route binary information from two 4-bit input sources to a single 4-bit output bus, as determined by a common data select input (S).

Each multiplexer has independent channel control but shares common select and output enable pins, making it ideal for bus-oriented systems. The active-low enable (OE) allows the outputs to be placed in a high-impedance (Hi-Z) state for bus sharing without interference.

This IC offers high-speed performance, low power consumption, and TTL-compatible inputs, suitable for modern digital logic applications such as data selection, bus driving, and signal routing in microprocessor-based systems.

Packaged in a DIP-16 form factor, it is easy to use for breadboard prototyping and PCB integration.
