74HC373 Octal D Type Latch 3 State Output IC (74373) DIP 20 Package
The 74HC373 (commonly known as 74373) is an octal D-type transparent latch featuring 3-state outputs, making it ideal for bus-oriented systems. This IC contains eight latches, each with a D-type data input, a latch enable (LE) input, and an output enable (OE) input.
When the latch enable (LE) input is HIGH, the latch is transparent—meaning the output follows the input. When LE goes LOW, the data present at the input is latched and held. The output enable (OE) input controls the 3-state outputs: when OE is HIGH, all outputs are in a high-impedance (Hi-Z) state, allowing multiple devices to share the same bus line.
The 74HC373 operates over a wide voltage range (2V–6V) with low power consumption and high-speed switching, making it ideal for use in microprocessor interfaces, memory address latching, and data bus applications.
