The 74HC390 (commonly referred to as 74390) is a high-speed CMOS dual 4-bit ripple counter, designed for binary and BCD (decade) counting applications. Each section of the IC operates as a divide-by-two and divide-by-five counter, allowing flexible configurations such as divide-by-10, divide-by-100, and other custom division ratios.
This IC includes two independent 4-bit counters, each capable of operating separately or connected in cascade for higher count ranges. The 74HC390 provides synchronous operation within each section, ensuring reliable and accurate counting with minimal propagation delay.
