The 74HC4020 is a high-speed CMOS 14-stage binary ripple counter IC designed for frequency division, counting, and timing applications. It operates on a wide voltage range (2 V – 6 V) and provides 14 binary outputs that represent successively divided versions of the input clock signal. Each output divides the input frequency by a power of two, making it ideal for generating time delays or lower-frequency signals from a high-speed clock source.

The device features low power consumption, high noise immunity, and a reset input that clears all outputs to logic LOW. It is commonly available in a 16-pin DIP package suitable for through-hole PCB mounting.
