74LS13 Schmitt Trigger IC (7413) DIP 14 Package
The 74LS13 is a Dual 4-Input NAND Schmitt Trigger IC from the 74LS (Low Power Schottky TTL) logic family.
Each gate functions as a 4-input NAND logic gate with Schmitt-trigger action on each input, providing hysteresis and enhanced noise immunity.
The Schmitt-trigger input design allows the IC to convert slowly changing, noisy, or analog input signals into clean, fast digital transitions, making it ideal for signal conditioning, wave shaping, and pulse generation applications.

Functional Description
The Schmitt-trigger inputs on the 74LS13 introduce hysteresis, meaning the input must rise above a certain high threshold (VT+) to switch the output LOW, and fall below a lower threshold (VT–) to switch the output HIGH.
This dual threshold prevents multiple transitions in the presence of slowly varying or noisy signals, ensuring clean and stable digital outputs.
The 74LS13 thus combines the logical NAND function with the signal-cleaning benefits of a Schmitt trigger.
