74LS132 Quad 2 Input Schmitt Trigger IC (74132) DIP 14 Package
The 74LS132 is a Quad 2-Input NAND Gate with Schmitt Trigger Inputs from the 74LS (Low Power Schottky TTL) logic family.
Each gate performs the NAND logic function, but with Schmitt-trigger inputs that provide hysteresis — ensuring clean, noise-free switching and improved noise immunity even when driven by slowly changing or noisy signals.
The Schmitt-trigger input design converts any slow or analog input transitions into fast, crisp digital logic levels, making this IC highly reliable in signal conditioning, waveform shaping, and oscillator applications.

Functional Description
The Schmitt Trigger inputs on the 74LS132 provide hysteresis, meaning the input has two distinct threshold voltages:
- VT+ (upper threshold) for rising input signals
- VT– (lower threshold) for falling input signals
This prevents rapid output switching when the input is near the threshold region or noisy, making it ideal for signal cleaning and wave shaping applications.
Thus, the 74LS132 acts as both a logic gate and a noise filter.
