L4960 2.5A Switching Regulator IC
The L4960 is a high-performance monolithic switching voltage regulator IC capable of delivering up to 2.5A output current with excellent efficiency. Developed by STMicroelectronics, it combines an internal power transistor, control circuitry, and protective features into a single compact device — simplifying the design of efficient DC-DC converters.
This regulator is designed for step-down (buck) converter configurations, providing an adjustable output voltage from 5.1V to 40V with a wide input voltage range up to 46V. The L4960 operates with a high switching frequency (typically 150 kHz), reducing the size of external components and improving overall performance.
The L4960 integrates a power transistor, control amplifier, and oscillator, forming a complete switching regulator system. It uses pulse-width modulation (PWM) control to maintain a stable output voltage under varying load and input conditions.
