The LM2596-5.0 (also known as IL2596-5.0) is a high-efficiency step-down (buck) switching voltage regulator designed to provide a fixed 5V output with up to 3A output current. Using switching regulation technology, it offers much higher efficiency than linear regulators, significantly reducing heat dissipation and making it ideal for DC-DC power conversion applications.

This IC integrates the switching transistor, oscillator, control, and protection circuitry into a single package, requiring only a few external components to build a complete and efficient power supply. It is housed in a TO-263-5L (D²PAK) surface-mount package, providing excellent thermal performance for compact, high-power designs.
