MQ5 LPG Natural Gas Sensor Module
The MQ-5 Gas Sensor Module is a semiconductor gas sensor board designed to detect LPG (liquefied petroleum gas), natural gas (methane), and other combustible gases in the air. It contains an MQ-5 sensing element made of tin dioxide (SnO?), whose resistance changes when exposed to target gases. The module includes a heater to bring the sensing element up to its optimal operating temperature, and it provides both analog output (for gas concentration) and often a digital output (via a built-in comparator) for easy microcontroller interfacing. The MQ-5 is commonly used in safety and monitoring applications where basic combustible gas detection is needed.
