SN7417 (7417) Buffer Line Driver DIP 14 IC

The SN7417 is a Hex Buffer/Driver IC with open-collector outputs, designed using TTL (Transistor-Transistor Logic) technology.
It contains six independent buffer/drivers, each capable of sinking high currents and driving loads up to 30V, making it ideal for interfacing TTL circuits with higher-voltage or high-current devices such as relays, lamps, and LEDs.

The SN7417 is similar in function to the SN7407 but features higher input threshold levels, making it compatible with TTL and CMOS logic systems where noise immunity and level shifting are required.

Functional Description

  • Each buffer receives a TTL-compatible input and drives an open-collector output.
  • The output transistor can sink current to ground, but cannot source current, so an external pull-up resistor (1k?–10k? typical) is required.
