The VIPer12A is an integrated off-line primary switcher IC designed for cost-effective and compact Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS). It combines a PWM controller and a 650V power MOSFET within a single monolithic chip, providing an efficient, reliable, and space-saving solution for low-power AC–DC converter designs.
Engineered by STMicroelectronics, the VIPer12A operates directly from rectified mains input and supports flyback, buck, or buck-boost topologies. It features constant-frequency PWM operation, current-mode control, and comprehensive protection features such as over-voltage, over-temperature, and over-current protection. Its auto-restart function ensures safe recovery from fault conditions without damaging the device or the load.
The VIPer12A is available in a compact SMD package (SO-8), making it ideal for applications where space, cost, and efficiency are critical.
