The 74HC595 is a high-speed CMOS 8-bit serial-in, parallel-out shift register with a storage register and 3-state output capability.
It converts serial data input into parallel data output, allowing microcontrollers to control multiple outputs (like LEDs, displays, or relays) using just a few pins.

The device has two registers:

• Shift Register — receives serial data on each clock pulse.
• Storage (Latch) Register — holds the data for output until updated, allowing smooth and flicker-free output transitions.

An Output Enable (OE) pin controls whether outputs are active or in high-impedance state, making the IC ideal for data display, output expansion, and digital control applications.
