MOC3023 IC Optocoupler Phototraic Driver IC
The MOC3023 is a high-sensitivity, non–zero-cross (random-phase) phototriac optocoupler, designed for interfacing low-voltage digital or analog control circuits with high-voltage AC loads.
Inside the IC, an infrared LED is optically coupled to a high-sensitivity phototriac, which is used to trigger a larger, external power triac.
Because it does not include zero-cross detection, it allows the triac to trigger at any point in the AC waveform, making it ideal for phase-angle control, dimming, and smooth variable power regulation.
Compared to MOC3020, MOC3021, and MOC3022, the MOC3023 has the highest sensitivity, requiring the lowest LED trigger current, making it suitable for microcontrollers with limited current drive (like ESP8266, ESP32, STM32, ATTINY, etc.)
