MOC3081 Triac Driver Optocoupler IC 

The MOC3081 is a non–zero-cross (random-phase) triac driver optocoupler designed to safely interface low-voltage control circuitry with high-voltage AC loads.
It includes an infrared LED on the input side and a light-sensitive phototriac on the output side, providing strong galvanic isolation between the control and AC mains.

Because it does not include zero-cross detection, the MOC3081 can trigger a triac at any point in the AC waveform. This makes it ideal for:

  • AC light dimming
  • Motor speed control
  • Phase-angle power regulation

The MOC3081 belongs to the MOC308x series, where it has higher LED trigger current compared to MOC3082 and MOC3083.
