MOC8101 Transistor Output Optocoupler Dip IC
The MOC8101 is a phototransistor-based optocoupler designed to provide safe electrical isolation between low-voltage control circuits and high-voltage or noisy systems.
It consists of two main parts:
- An infrared LED (input side)
- A phototransistor (output side)
When the LED is activated by an input signal, it triggers the phototransistor to conduct, transferring signals across the isolation barrier without any direct electrical connection.
This isolation helps protect microcontrollers, logic circuits, and sensitive electronics from high voltage spikes, ground loops, and electrical noise.
The MOC8101 offers higher current transfer ratio (CTR) compared to standard optocouplers, making it useful for general-purpose switching and signal isolation.
