MOC3061 IC Zero Cross Optoisolators Triac Drive IC
The MOC3061 is a zero-cross Triac driver optocoupler designed for safe and efficient interfacing between low-voltage digital circuits and high-voltage AC loads.
It contains an infrared LED and a light-activated phototriac, providing strong galvanic isolation between the control and AC mains circuits.
The important feature is zero-cross detection, meaning the output triac is triggered only when the AC waveform crosses zero volts. This reduces:
- Electrical noise
- EMI/RFI
- Inrush current
- Stress on the external triac and load
The MOC3061 is ideal for clean AC switching, especially in appliances requiring minimal electrical noise.
