AD633 Analog Multiplier IC
The AD633 is a versatile, low-cost four-quadrant analog multiplier IC from Analog Devices designed for general-purpose analog signal processing applications. It can multiply two analog input signals and provide a scaled analog output proportional to their product.
Unlike discrete multiplier circuits, the AD633 is fully laser-trimmed and internally compensated, providing high accuracy, low drift, and excellent linearity without requiring external components. It can operate from dual (±8V to ±18V) or single (8V to 36V) supplies, making it easy to use in both analog and mixed-signal systems.
The AD633 simplifies mathematical operations such as multiplication, division, squaring, modulation, and demodulation in analog circuits.

The AD633 computes the analog product of two differential input voltages, (X1 – X2) and (Y1 – Y2), and divides the result by 10V. The output, W, represents the scaled product plus an optional third input Z, allowing for summing or offset adjustments.
Its ability to handle both positive and negative input voltages (four-quadrant operation) makes it ideal for amplitude modulation, RMS-to-DC conversion, automatic gain control, analog computation, and signal mixing applications.
Applications:
- Analog signal multiplication and division
- Modulators and demodulators (AM, FM, PWM systems)
- RMS-to-DC converters and analog power measurement
- Waveform generation and shaping
- Analog computing and control systems
- Servo control and instrumentation circuits
