The 74HC14 is a Hex Schmitt Trigger Inverter IC, meaning it contains six independent inverter (NOT) gates that incorporate Schmitt Trigger inputs.
Each gate inverts the input logic signal, and the Schmitt Trigger action provides hysteresis — a noise-tolerant switching threshold that ensures clean and stable output transitions, even with slowly changing or noisy input signals.
