74HC221 Dual Monostable Multivibrator with Reset IC (74221) DIP 16 Package

The 74HC221 (also known as 74221) is a high-speed CMOS Dual Monostable Multivibrator with retriggerable and resettable pulse generation capabilities. Each section of the IC functions as a one-shot pulse generator that can be triggered by either a rising or falling edge of the input signal, depending on the configuration.

The output pulse width (duration) is determined by external timing components — a resistor (R_EXT) and a capacitor (C_EXT) — and can be adjusted precisely to suit timing requirements in various digital circuits.

The 74HC221 is ideal for pulse shaping, delay generation, missing pulse detection, and timing control applications. The IC operates over a wide voltage range (2V–6V) and is TTL and CMOS logic compatible, making it suitable for interfacing with modern microcontrollers and digital systems.

Encased in a DIP-16 package, it is easy to use in both prototype and production designs.
