74HC240 Octal Buffer Line Driver IC (74240) DIP 20 Package
The 74HC240 (also known as 74240) is a High-Speed CMOS Octal Buffer/Line Driver with inverting outputs and 3-state control, designed for bus-oriented applications. It contains eight independent buffers organized as two groups of four, each with its own enable control pin for selective operation.
This IC provides high drive capability and fast signal transmission, making it ideal for driving bus lines, signal buffering, and data transmission between devices or logic circuits.
With active-low output enables (OE1\ and OE2), the outputs can be placed in a high-impedance (Hi-Z) state, allowing multiple devices to share the same data bus without conflict. The 74HC240 is pin-compatible with TTL devices but offers lower power consumption and higher noise immunity typical of CMOS logic families.
Packaged in a DIP-20 form, it’s suitable for breadboard prototyping and PCB assembly.
