74HC85 4 bit Magnitude Comparator IC (7485) DIP 16 Package
The 74HC85 is a high-speed CMOS 4-bit magnitude comparator designed to compare two 4-bit binary or BCD numbers (A and B).
It determines whether A > B, A = B, or A < B and provides corresponding logic outputs.
This IC can also be cascaded with additional 74HC85 units to compare numbers larger than 4 bits (e.g., 8-bit or 16-bit comparisons).
It’s widely used in digital systems, arithmetic logic units (ALUs), and microprocessor-based circuits where fast numerical comparison is required.
