74LS139 Dual 2 to 4 line Decoder/Demultiplexer IC (74139) DIP 16 Package
The 74LS139 is a Dual 2-to-4 Line Decoder/Demultiplexer IC from the 74LS TTL logic family.
It contains two independent 2-to-4 decoders, each with active-low outputs and an enable input. When enabled, each decoder takes a 2-bit binary input and decodes it into one of four active-low outputs.
This IC is widely used for address decoding, data routing, and multiplexing/demultiplexing tasks in digital systems.
It operates from a single +5V supply and features low power consumption, high noise immunity, and fast switching speeds.

Specifications:-
| Parameter | Specification |
| Supply Voltage (VCC) | 7 V |
| Input Voltage (VI) | 7 V |
| Operating free-air temperature range | 0°C to +70°C |

Functional Description
- Each of the two decoders operates independently.
- When the enable input (G) is HIGH, all outputs remain HIGH (inactive).
- When G is LOW, the decoder uses inputs A and B to activate one of the four LOW outputs (Y0–Y3).
- Because outputs are active LOW, this IC can drive LEDs, chip select lines, or address decoding lines directly.
Applications
- Memory Address Decoding (to select one of several memory chips)
- Demultiplexing Data Lines
- Digital Signal Routing / Line Selection
- Microprocessor Address Line Decoding
- Chip Select Logic in Embedded Systems
- Code Converters and Function Generators
- LED Display Control Circuits
