IR2520D 600V Adaptive Ballast Controller IC
The IR2520D is a high-voltage, high-performance adaptive ballast controller IC designed for compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) and linear fluorescent lighting applications. Developed by Infineon Technologies (formerly International Rectifier), this device integrates all the necessary functions for a complete electronic ballast, offering high efficiency, reliability, and reduced component count.
With its 600V half-bridge driver, adaptive zero-voltage switching (ZVS), and comprehensive protection features, the IR2520D ensures smooth lamp ignition, stable operation, and extended lamp life — making it a preferred solution for modern energy-efficient lighting systems.
The IR2520D combines an advanced control logic with high-voltage gate drivers to create a complete ballast control solution in a single compact IC. It drives an external MOSFET half-bridge to efficiently power fluorescent lamps through all stages — preheat, ignition, and steady-state operation.
Its adaptive ZVS technology minimizes switching losses and electromagnetic interference (EMI), enabling higher efficiency and quieter operation. The IC automatically adjusts to lamp conditions, ensuring consistent light output and protecting against abnormal states such as open circuit, short circuit, or aging lamps.
