The NE556 is a dual version of the popular NE555 timer IC, integrating two independent, high-precision 555 timers in a single package. It is designed for applications requiring two timing, pulse generation, or oscillation functions while saving board space and reducing component count.

Each timer inside the NE556 can operate in monostable, astable, or bistable modes, making it extremely versatile for timing delays, pulse generation, oscillators, PWM generation, and clock circuits. The NE556 offers reliable performance, good temperature stability, and can source or sink relatively high output current, similar to the standard 555 timer.
