NE566 Function Generator IC
The NE566 is a precision function generator IC capable of producing highly stable square and triangular waveforms over a wide frequency range. It is a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) that allows the frequency and duty cycle of the output waveform to be accurately controlled by external resistors, capacitors, and input control voltages.
Developed originally by Signetics (and later by Philips, ON Semiconductor, and others), the NE566 is widely used in signal generation, waveform synthesis, and modulation applications. It provides excellent linearity, low distortion, and temperature stability, making it ideal for analog signal processing and waveform control circuits.
