MOC3020 IC Traic OptoIsolator IC
The MOC3020 is a non–zero-cross triac optoisolator designed for interfacing low-voltage control circuitry (like microcontrollers, logic circuits, and sensors) with high-voltage AC loads.
It consists of an infrared LED optically coupled to a phototriac driver that can trigger a main power triac.
Since the MOC3020 does not include zero-cross detection, it supports random-phase triggering, allowing the triac to fire at any point in the AC waveform.
This is important for dimming, motor speed control, and phase-angle power regulation.
The IC provides galvanic isolation between the low-voltage control side and high-voltage AC mains, improving safety and noise immunity.
