74HC165 8 Bit Parallel In/Serial Out Shift Register IC (74165) DIP 16 Package
The 74HC165 (also known as 74165) is an 8-bit parallel-in, serial-out (PISO) shift register designed using high-speed CMOS technology. It allows data from eight parallel inputs to be loaded simultaneously and then shifted out serially on each clock pulse.
This IC features a parallel load (active LOW) input, enabling the simultaneous loading of all input data into the register. Once loaded, data is shifted out through the serial output (Q7) with each rising clock edge. The serial input (DS) allows cascading multiple registers for extended bit-length data handling.
Encased in a DIP-16 package, the 74HC165 is ideal for expanding microcontroller input lines, key scanning, and digital data acquisition applications where multiple parallel signals need to be read using a single serial interface.
