The MCP2510 is a stand-alone Controller Area Network (CAN) controller IC that provides CAN communication capability to microcontrollers that do not include an on-chip CAN module. It supports the CAN 2.0A and 2.0B protocols, enabling reliable data exchange in automotive and industrial control systems.

The IC interfaces with the host microcontroller through a high-speed SPI interface and requires an external CAN transceiver (such as MCP2551) to connect to the physical CAN bus. Housed in a DIP-18 through-hole package, the MCP2510 is well suited for prototyping, educational applications, and industrial designs.
