MCT6 IC Dual Phototransistor Optocoupler IC
The MCT6 is a dual-channel phototransistor optocoupler designed to provide safe, reliable galvanic isolation between two independent circuits.
Each of the two channels contains an infrared LED (IRED) optically coupled to an NPN silicon phototransistor, enabling electrical signal transfer through light rather than direct electrical conduction.
Housed in a standard DIP-8 through-hole package, the MCT6 is ideal for PCBs where multiple isolated channels are required but board space must be conserved.
Because both channels are electrically isolated from each other, the MCT6 supports multi-signal isolation—often used in control systems, PLC inputs, communication isolation, motor control interfaces, and power supply feedback loops.
The device offers high isolation voltage (typically 5 kVrms) and strong immunity against electrical noise, making it suitable for applications involving high voltages, switching noise, or sensitive logic-level circuits.
With stable CTR (Current Transfer Ratio), the MCT6 ensures consistent behavior across temperature and operating conditions.
It is suited for low-to-moderate speed signal transfer, typical in digital logic interfacing, relay driving, state monitoring, and low-frequency analog signal coupling.
