MOC3063 Zero Cross Triac OptoIsolator IC

The MOC3063 is a zero-cross optoisolator triac driver IC designed to provide safe electrical isolation and reliable AC load switching.
It contains an infrared LED input and a light-activated phototriac output, offering galvanic isolation between low-voltage control systems (Arduino, microcontrollers, PLCs) and high-voltage AC mains.

The key feature of the MOC3063 is its zero-cross switching capability. This ensures that the external triac is triggered exactly when the AC waveform crosses zero volts, minimizing:

  • EMI/RFI noise
  • Inrush current
  • Load stress
  • Electrical interference

Compared to the MOC3061 and MOC3062, the MOC3063 has the lowest input trigger current, making it easier to drive directly from logic outputs.
